During the trip, the team conducted cuppings of the fresh harvest, visited washed processing stations, audited fermentation and drying processes, met with cooperative owners and exporters, and attended Africa Coffee and Tea Expo 2025.

The purpose of the visit was to assess crop quality, develop direct relationships with exporters and producers, and analyse logistics chains.

IMCO took part in the sourcing trip as a direct participant.

Key Insights

During the trip, the IMCO team conducted a series of cuppings of the fresh harvest and carried out a preliminary selection of lots for further work. Particular attention was given to developing relationships with cooperatives in the Western Province and producers on the island plantations of Lake Kivu.

Participation in Africa Coffee and Tea Expo 2025 provided an opportunity to exchange experience with representatives of the East African export community and discuss current issues related to quality, logistics, and supply chain sustainability.
